From Rotary Club Sopot International
Mel was one of the founding members of our club the Rotary Club Sopot International – an English speaking club made up of different nationalities based in Sopot Poland – and without him, his vision and his tireless campaigning for good causes we would not even exist today.
Mel was a guiding light and a very active and popular member of our club, a Paul Harris Fellow and club Secretary for many years. Melvin had a special commitment particularly to our charitable work: especially the Georgia Rotary Student Programme Scholarships exchange scheme, in which he was the key person involved in organising and enabling young students from Poland to be sent to study in the US every year.
Other of our charitable work Mel was a key figure behind was organising lessons for orphans in children’s homes here in Gdansk, Gdynia and Sopot, raising money for essential equipment in children’s hospices also in Poland and summer camps for Ukrainian children suffering from war trauma – to mention just a few from the many projects Mel was involved in.
But Mel was more than just our fellow club member, he was also our colleague, our guide, our tennis partner, our pub quiz team member, our golf partner, our confidante, a true gentleman and most of all our friend.

He will be truly sadly, sadly missed by all of us here in Poland.
Good bye Mel.  Rest in peace.
